10 ways to celebrate Mother’s Day at home

Partager:

Happy Mother’s Day! Celebrating Mother’s Day in the middle of a pandemic doesn’t have to be a challenge, and you don’t have to go out to have a great time with your Mom. Here are 10 ways to celebrate Mother’s Day at home.

Breakfast in bed

For your Mother’s day celebration, treat your Mom to a day of rest and relaxation. Start Mom’s day on a luxurious note with breakfast in bed. Wake up earlier than she does to whip up breakfast and serve it to her in bed. Check out this robust collection of breakfast ideas from Food Network.

Indoor picnic

This is one of our favourite Mother’s Day celebration ideas! If your Mom loves to picnic, but outside is off-limits, plan an indoor one. Look for a nice tasting sparkling wine and whip up a picnic-inspired menu full of hand-held, not-too-messy items like sandwiches and potato salad. Pack it all into a picnic basket, lay out a blanket on your living room floor and enjoy a relaxed picnic at home together!

Bake or cook together

If Mom loves to bake or cook, making something together can be a great way to celebrate Mother’s Day. Maybe try something she’s always wanted to make but hasn’t had time for like homemade pasta, a decadent cake or a risotto.

Movie night

If Mom is a movie buff, watching flicks is the perfect way to go. Encourage her to choose what to watch! If she’s not sure, create a list of her favourites and show her some trailers of new movies to choose from. You can also take the guesswork out of your selection by referring to this list of the best Netflix movies to watch on Mother's Day.

Virtual hangout

You may not be able to physically be with your Mom on Mother’s Day this year. Schedule a virtual hangout with Skype, Google Hangouts or Zoom. They offer a great way to be together without being together. Treat Mom to a delivered meal she can enjoy while you hang out together.

Family game night

If you have a good selection of board games at home, choose a few of her favourites, clear off the dining table and make a night of it. Classic games you might have in your collection that will work well for the whole family include Monopoly, Trivial Pursuit, Sorry!, and Clue. Looking to invest in some new games? Check out this list of the best board games to buy and play in 2021.

Spa day at home

Your Mom has a lot on her plate, so a little rest and relaxation can go a long way. Create a spa experience for her at home with these DIY treatments.

Cocktails at home

If your Mom enjoys a night on the town with cocktails, she might be missing her favourite bars and restaurants right now. Be her new favourite mixologist by shaking up some delicious cocktails for her to enjoy at home.

Mom for a day

Your Mom is probably tired and just wants a break. Take on some of her responsibilities so she can unwind and relax. Offer to handle her chores and errands for the day so she can do whatever she really wants to do.

Order in

You might be a bit overstretched yourself, so celebrating Mom might need to be short and sweet. Sitting down for a special takeout or delivery meal together is a great idea. Encourage Mom to choose the place and food items while you handle the order, pickup and payment. Special occasions like this are a great time to explore new-to-you cuisines. Maybe it’s the perfect night to tuck into a flavourful Indian curry or indulge in a perfect French souffle. If Mom’s more of a breakfast person, start her day off with an order of freshly baked bagels, expertly smoked salmon and fresh cream cheese. If Mom lives in Toronto, you have a lot of takeout choices! To help you narrow them down, here are 25 great restaurants offering Mother's Day brunch and dinner takeout.

However, you choose to celebrate, we hope you have a great time with your Mom this Mother’s Day! To find your home with Hazelview Properties, please visit our Home Finder section.
