Culture Days in Winnipeg invite both locals and tourists to explore, discover and participate in the arts and culture of the local area and to celebrate its diverse community. What are Culture Days?
Culture Days are series of free events that celebrate the diverse arts and culture of Canada. This year’s Culture Days Manitoba will take place on September 25, 26 and 27. This event features free, hands-on, interactive activities, shows, lectures, workshops and more.
Let’s check out some of Culture Days’ best bets including Nuit Blanche, the Mexican Revolution Photo Exhibition, the Canadian Museum for Human Rights Tour and Honey Days.
Nuit Blanche:
Nuit Blanche is one of Culture Days’ biggest and most visited events. On Saturday, September 26th from 6 p.m. all the way to 6 a.m., Nuit Blanche will take over Winnipeg with a night of exploration and a celebration of contemporary art. This event is free for the public and is a must-see event for families, friends, and art-lovers and just about everyone else. The Manitoba Crafts Museum & Library, one of the locations for Winnipeg’s Nuit Blanche, is less than a ten-minute walk from Hazelview’s 160 Smith Street Apartments.
The Mexican Revolution Photo Exhibition
The Mexican Revolution Photo Exhibition offers a stunning and never-before-seen look into images of the Mexican Revolution, dating back to 1910. The Mex Y Can Association presents this rare, powerful and compelling exhibit of period photographs of one of the twentieth century’s longest and deadliest conflicts. You can expect to see images of women warriors, child labourers, military rulers, the poor, privileged elites and charismatic revolutionaries.
The Canadian Museum for Human Rights Tour
This free tour is targeted to students in grades nine to 12 and offers a complimentary tour and free activities as part of Winnipeg’s Culture Days. From 10 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. students will be immersed in a human rights dialogue that features a guided tour and interactive activity entitled “Our Values”. Honey Days
Honey Days is a unique event that explores all things honey. This one-of-a-kind event will feature local Manitoba artisans creating works of art and unique items from honey, watching live bees in action and an informative speaking session on the power of bees (and their honey). You can also purchase local products for yourself, friends and family.
