Escape the cold at Winnipeg's museums this winter

Partager:

Unpleasant winter weather is the perfect excuse to explore Winnipeg’s many museums. For today’s post, the Hazelview Properties blog team has compiled a list of some of the city’s finest centres. Spend a day indoors at one of these world-renowned destinations, located not far from our Winnipeg apartments.

Canadian Museum for Human Rights

If you have yet to visit the Canadian Museum for Human Rights (Waterfront Drive), consider this your official invitation. Since opening in 2014, the museum has been a hotspot in Winnipeg. In February, two new exhibits will be open to the public. The first, Sight Unseen, invites museumgoers to reconsider their perception of blindness. The second requires a little time outside. Let Them Howl is designed to mark the 100th anniversary of women winning the right to vote in Canada. It is the museum’s first outdoor exhibition. To check out either of these exhibits, walk just 15 minutes from Hargrave Place Apartments (26 & 33 Hargrave Street).

Children’s Museum

For almost 30 years, the Children’s Museum (45 Forks Market Road) has served families in Winnipeg by providing fun, educational exhibits designed for all ages. February is I Love To Read Month at the museum. There will be special storytimes, literacy-focused activities and even prizes to celebrate the month. An easy five-minute drive from Colony Square Apartments (525-555 St. Mary Avenue), plan a day of fun with the family here this winter.

Manitoba Museum

A 20-minute walk from 160 Smith Apartments, the Manitoba Museum (190 Rupert Avenue,) is a remarkable mix of heritage and science. It is the largest not-for-profit organization of its kind in the province. Skip the cold weather this season and opt instead to explore the Planetarium and discover hands-on exhibits in the Science Gallery at this local museum.

Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada

Another great museum in town is the Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada (958 Ferry Road). This museum is around a 20-minute drive from Arden Hollows Apartments (15 Arden Avenue). Mark your calendars for February 27th, when the museum will host a Saturday Rocket Workshop Extravaganza that the entire family will not want to miss.

Hazelview Properties hopes you will take time to explore one of these museums nearby. For more information about our Winnipeg apartments, visit our website today.
