Fun Summer Staycation Ideas

Partager:

You don’t have to travel somewhere exotic to have an amazing vacation. There’s plenty of things you can do in your hometown and you won’t have to spend all that money on travelling to a faraway place. Hazelview Properties has four great staycation ideas for summer.

Set Up Your Own Water Park

Why go to a water park when you can set up your own in your backyard or in a park? All you need is squirt guns, water balloons and maybe some buckets of water. You can set up teams and add a little bit of friendly competition and play water balloon dodgeball or freeze water gun tag. You can also grab a Bunch o Balloons - a pack of 100 balloons that you can fill with water in 60 seconds.

Neighbourhood BBQ

Planning or attending a neighbourhood BBQ is another great way to enjoy your time off. If you’re the one organizing it, be sure to bring lots of food to the event. Pick up some food items that are easy to grill (burgers and hot dogs are a safe bet), condiments, and whatever else you might need. Invite your neighbours and some close friends and enjoy a relaxing summer day. A neighbourhood BBQ is a great opportunity to kick back and socialize with your friends and meet new people in your area. Plus, if you have kids, they’ll love being outside. If you’re an apartment dweller, you could potentially host a resident BBQ party in the BBQ area of your complex.

Be a Hometown Tourist

This is your chance to rediscover your hometown! Most people don’t spend much time exploring their own city, so this is the perfect opportunity to do so. Plus, it won’t cost you very much. Pick five spots in your city that you’ve never been to before and start exploring. Visit a new-to-you neighbourhood and see what it has to offer. Another idea is to check out a museum or an art gallery, or simply try a new restaurant. The options are endless!

Get active

A staycation is about more than just staying at home. It’s an opportunity to get out, get active and enjoy the great outdoors. There are so many things you can do -- including playing sports in a nearby park. Whether you love to play baseball, soccer or basketball, you can play almost anywhere. You’ll just need some equipment, if you don’t already have it. The other option is to try something new. How about rock climbing, kayaking or yoga in the park?

Camp Out

Camping is always fun, but who said you have to drive to a campsite? You can set up your camp right in your backyard or even in your apartment’s living room. If you have a firepit, roast some marshmallows and make smores, or melt them in the microwave if you’re camping out indoors. Grab a flashlight and tell scary stories in your tent or stargaze at night. This is a great bonding activity for the whole family and you don’t have to go anywhere!
