Get ahead of spring cleaning

Partager:

Get a head start on spring cleaning this winter with Hazelview Properties’ guide to getting ready for the spring season one week at a time. Our Mississauga communities are located in the most convenient areas of the city, in serene park-like settings.

Clear Clutter

The first step in the spring cleaning process is to simply de-clutter your space. You can do this year round by constantly evaluating what you have, don’t need and can donate. Take inventory of what you currently have and decide what you actually need. For items that cannot be donated, call your local recycling programs to find out what other items can be collected and recycled rather than ending up in a landfill. Adopting a ‘one-in-one-out’ rule can help you continually cut down on mess and keep your space organized.

Change Linens

An easy way to start your spring cleaning in advance is to clean and change all of your linens. Start with your bed linens, flipping any couch cushions and cleaning the drapes and upholstery. Wash your sheets, comforter covers and pillowcases. Swapping old bed sheets for a spare or new set will add an instant sense of freshness to any bedroom. While cleaning any drapes or upholstery, pop them in the dryer with a fabric softening sheet to remove any dust and to add a fresh spring scent. Homesense is a 30-minute transit ride from Hazelview’s 30 Central Parkway West Apartments and is an affordable place to pick up gorgeous linens for your home.

Clean out the Kitchen

Start off your cleaning journey by getting your kitchen in tiptop shape. Remove all food and groceries from both your pantry and fridge. Immediately discard all old, expired or unused food items. Once discarded, thoroughly clean your cabinets, shelving and fridge. Empty these areas and clean the surface with a mix of hot water and cleaning solution. Remember to also wipe down jars and bottles with a warm cloth to avoid a buildup of dust and debris. Once everything is clean and dry, take the opportunity to put items back in a more organized and efficient manner than before.

Go Digital

While this isn’t spring cleaning in the traditional sense, going digital is a great way to keep many aspects of your life organized. Digital and cloud-based storage options are easy to use and affordable. Clear your desk by scanning documents and photos and storing them digitally. Utilize online banking to help reduce your paper trail, make banking easier and to help reduce the overall clutter of bills, invoices and more. Future Shop is a 25-minute walk from Hazelview’s 1750 Bloor Street Community and is a convenient spot to pick up all your technology and digital needs.

Start your spring cleaning process now to help cut down on work later. Hazelview has apartments throughout 27 cities in Canada including our Mississauga properties.
