Homemade Halloween decorations for your apartment

Partager:

It’s the spookiest time of the year, is your apartment up to snuff? It’s time to transform your home into a spooktacular, yet livable, space with Halloween decorations. There’s no need to go out and buy Halloween decorations you may never use again – make these fabulous homemade Halloween decorations with ease! We’ve also shared tips to help you reuse them for years to come – which is better for your wallet and the planet.

DIY Mini ghost garland

If you want to add something spooky to your mantle, a door or even a wall in your apartment, this DIY Mini ghost garland is a great choice! It’s easy to make and can be stored and reused for future Halloweens. All you need is cheesecloth, twine, black construction paper, practice golf balls, hot glue, a hole punch and scissors! Check out the step-by-step tutorial.

DIY Floral skull centerpiece

If you want to add a spooky but elegant touch to your Halloween table, look no further than this DIY Floral skull centerpiece! It’s positively beautiful – in a ghoulish sort of way. Basically all you need is a fake skull (with a removable calvarium), a wet floral foam block, pruning shears, a knife, a large Ziploc bag, and a variety of fresh flowers. It’s easier than it looks to assemble, totally easy to personalize with your favourite flowers, and will certainly get a lot of attention if you host a Halloween dinner party. When the flowers die, simply clean out the skull and put it in storage to save and reuse for next year’s arrangement. You can also use artificial flowers to create the centerpiece and make it last indefinitely. Check out the step-by-step tutorial.

Painted pumpkins

Nothing says Halloween quite like pumpkin decor! If you don’t have the time or energy for carving jack o'lanterns this year, switch things up by painting your pumpkins instead! You can paint them in spooky solid colours like black or red, or paint on a face, instead of carving one, with black paint! If you want to keep things elegant and dare we say glitzy, try metallic and shimmering paints for a touch of Halloween glam. Painting patterns in black and white is mesmerizing as well. If you want to reuse this decoration, use fake pumpkins instead of real ones.

Printable decor ideas

If you have a printer, or if you can visit your local printer, you can make these three awesome Halloween decor pieces! These are really cute and two of the three are perfect if you’re going to be entertaining for the holiday. If you’re serving cocktails or alcohol, the first DIY is black “poison” labels for your bottles. All you do is print them and adhere them on top of your bottles’ existing labels! Save the empty bottles after your party for a spooky apothecary display for future Halloweens. The next is adorable little black bat cake toppers -- perfect for cupcakes! These can be cleaned and reused for future Halloween parties. The last is cool for families -- it involves printing old family photos in black and white and painting them partially in colour for a haunting but lovely effect. You might like the photos you create so much that you display them year round! Check out the tutorial for all three.

We hope these homemade Halloween decoration ideas help make your apartment look spooktacular. We hope you use our tips for how to reuse them as it’s better for the planet.
