How to visit Ottawa's museums for next to nothing

National Gallery of Canada

The National Gallery of Canada is one of the country’s most renowned museums and is free on Thursday nights from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. every week. The National Gallery also offers free access to the permanent collection with any visit to one of their special exhibitions. Free general admission also applies on the following days:

  • Sunday 17 May 2015 (International Museums Day)
  • Sunday 7 June 2015 (Doors Open Ottawa)
  • Wednesday 1st July 2015 (Canada Day)
  • Sunday 27 September 2015 (Culture Days)

Royal Canadian Mint

Visit the country’s Royal Canadian Mint and see how our currency is made. The Mint produces circulation coins for Canada and other countries, as well as commemorative coins sold worldwide. Admission is discounted on the weekends at:

  • $4.50 per adult
  • $2.25 per child 5-17
  • $3.75 per senior 65 and over
  • Children under four are free

Canadian War Museum

The Canadian War Museum offers free admission to all members and volunteers at all times. The museum is free to the public on Thursdays from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. as well as on Canada Day and Remembrance Day. Complimentary admission to the Canadian War Museum is also given to past and present Canadian military personnel with appropriate identification or proof or service. The Canadian War Museum is less than a 15-minute drive from Hazelview Properties 2851 Baycrest Community.

The Canada Aviation and Space Museum

The Canada Aviation and Space Museum offers free admission daily between 4 p.m. and 5p.m. Monday through Sunday. Complimentary admission to the museum is given to past and present Canadian military personnel, with appropriate ID or proof of service.
