Masculine Decor For Your Home

Partager:

Manly decor goes way beyond posters and aftershave. And while classics like chrome, exposed pipes, bearskin rugs, and muted monochromes may always fit the bill, what's thought of as manly decor is changing, fast. For some ideas on how to outfit your pad with some manly decor, Hazelview brings you this list of tips and tricks.

Rustic Loft Look

We love the look of this rustic loft. In particular we love its mix of masculine decor and vibrant colour. Bright colours tend to not be thought of as manly. But why not? While monochrome has been thought of as a manly palette forever, incorporating a bold accent colour can brighten up a space in a manly way. Pantone’s color of the year is pretty bold, yet gender neutral. Give it a try in your space by incorporating some ultraviolet throw pillows, curtains or furniture into the mix. Balanced with a hefty dose of white, grey, black or brown, a pop of colour can add amazing character to your space. Check out the loft we love here.

Brewery Home

We’re swooning for this masculine home that’s located in an old brewery. Complete with high ceilings, brick walls, and concrete flooring, it has good bones. It also has a lot of great style that anyone can work into any space. Leather furniture (the more vintage the better) in combination with some well-scavenged furniture items (that mix styles and eras) work well here to create that perfect mix of chic, masculine, and eclectic. One of the rooms features a well-balanced cluster of black framed paintings and posters on the wall, as well as lots of rustic reclaimed wood pieces like coffee tables and shelves that add to the manly feel. See it for yourself and read more.

Industrial Chic

This industrial style condo is deceptively simple and chic. Abundant use of greys and monochrome make it feel very masculine. If you want to achieve a similar look, you can’t go wrong by incorporating grey into your paint, linens, or furniture. Grey is also a major decor trend in 2018 and there’s a good reason for it: it allows for a mix of light reflectivity and blends well with practically every other color. We also love this condo’s use of artwork, in particular how they chose to hang their artwork above their TV to make the TV less of a focal point. They used art sparingly throughout, careful not to overcrowd the walls. See it for yourself here.

Eclectic

Eclectic decor is basically defined as not sticking to one style or color scheme. It can be super freeing, and can lend major originality to a space. But it has to be handled with care as it’s easy to go from eclectic to kitchy. For a masculine eclectic look, most pieces in the home (furniture, throw rugs, etc.) should be dark or light -- from dark mauve to black or from white to grey. This creates the opportunity for your artwork and small accent pieces to tastefully steal the show. Look for abstract art pieces, bold flowers, and brightly coloured or patterned accent pillows. Check out a great example of a chic eclectic space here.
