The nation’s capital is full of exciting things to see and do for people of all ages, including fascinating museums, performing arts, galleries and more. Today on the blog Hazelview Properties has put together a few options for local Ottawa attractions that offer student discounts.

The National Arts Centre

The National Arts Centre (NAC) is a hub of activity for many different types of performing arts. The Centre collaborates with artists and arts organizations across the country to create a national stage for dance, drama and vocal arts. The National Arts Centre showcases some of Canada’s most talented artists and is the only bilingual, multidisciplinary performing arts centre in the country. The NAC also makes it affordable for students to enjoy the arts with 50% off of the regular box office price for full-time students at primary, secondary or post-secondary school. Make sure to bring your valid ID card to the NAC Box Office. The National Arts Centre is a ten-minute walk from Hazelview’s 145 York Street Apartment.

The National Gallery

Ottawa’s most prestigious and beloved gallery, The National Gallery houses Canadian and international art while preserving, studying and teaching craft. This gallery exposes Canadians to great art from all periods and in all manifestations, including painting, photography, sculpture and more. The National Gallery offers a number of scholarships and is applauded for its ability to engage audiences of all ages and levels of artistic knowledge. Students with a valid ID can enjoy a discount to The National Gallery at $10 for a general admission ticket. Thursdays from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. are also free to the general public and a great time to view the gallery.

The Canadian Museum of Nature is located in the Victoria Memorial Building in the heart of Ottawa. This recently renovated museum features awe-inspiring exhibits that bring everything from the world’s oceans to extinct dinosaurs into focus.
