Tips for enjoying family life in Downtown Montréal

Partager:

Montréal is a great place to raise a family. The city offers the most affordable daycare in Canada, great mobility with or without a car thanks to exceptional public transit, and over 530 kilometres of bike lanes to explore with the kiddos. There is also a metric tonne of family-friendly stuff to do in town. Here are a few tips for enjoying family life in downtown Montréal.

Nerf Hero

Perfect for a memorable activity (or birthday party), Nerf Hero is filled with excitement and adrenaline! Pick both your gun and your game mode and start the battle! Hosted by Nerf Hero's top-notch animators, they'll teach you everything you need to know. Just like paintball, but with no pain at all, Nerf Hero is perfect for adults and children of all ages. Book your game now!

Biodôme

Located at Olympic Park, in the Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve neighbourhood of Montréal, the Biodôme (4777 Pierre-de Coubertin Ave) is a fascinating destination during any season. Kids will love exploring the natural world with a sense of wonder as they encounter native species from different ecosystems.

Biosphere

Parc Jean-Drapeau is a great family destination for many reasons. Exploring Montreal's Biosphere (160 Chemin du Tour de l'isle) is an opportunity for families to learn about the environment and the challenges we face through fun and fascinating exhibitions.

Force Academy

A trip to the Force Academy (4767 Rue Dagenais #202) is a must for any young Jedi-in-training. Become a Knight for a day or train to be a master. No prior experience is needed – just grab your Saber and choose your side!

Céramic Café

Céramic Café (4338 St Denis Street) is a creative workshop that lets you create your own ceramic cups, teapots, vases and more. Once you've worked up an appetite, they offer sandwiches, desserts and drink menus.

Allez Up

If the kids are climbing the walls at home, why not bring them to Allez Up (1555 Saint-Patrick St) where climbing the walls is encouraged! You children will love this venue that offers indoor rock climbing for all ages.

Explore Mount Royal

Spend a day picnicking, strolling and playing at Mount Royal. The city's namesake and greatest greenspace awaits you. This natural playground is a great place for families and there is an actual playground located on the west side of the park, near Beaver Lake.

Family bike ride

With hundreds of kilometres of bike paths to explore, Montréal is a city that loves its bicycles. If you don't have bikes, you can grab one for the day at any of the Bixi locations throughout the city. For a great family bike ride, try the Lachine Canal multipurpose path. It runs for about 15 kilometres from Old Port along the boat canal, past Atwater Market and all the way to the Lachine Museum in the west – which is home to a beautiful sculpture garden along the river.

With so much to see and do, it's easy to see why so many families choose to live in Montréal.
