Explore these nearby trails in and around Kitchener

Share:

Kitchener’s finest trails await! This summer, get outdoors and explore the nature trails in and around Kitchener apartments. Today’s post from the Hazelview Properties blog team features a few of our favourite trails to visit while the sun is shining.

Begin close to home

Did you know that you can access the Iron Horse Trail in just a few minutes? Located within walking distance of Mooregate Apartments (50, 66 & 80 Mooregate Crescent), the Iron Horse connects Waterloo and Kitchener and is one of Kitchener’s most beloved trails. Use the Henry Sturm Greenway to access the Iron Horse, which is a segment of the larger Trans Canada Trail.

Plan for a picnic

One of the stops along the Iron Horse Trail is Victoria Park (80 Schneider), just a 15-minute bike ride if you’re heading there directly from Mooregate Apartments. Treat yourself to a picnic in this scenic spot to fuel your adventure or to celebrate a successful day on the trails. Flower gardens, sculptures, a pond and pavilion make this a fun spot for a beautiful summer day.

Escape the city

If you are looking to swap the city for a local nature sanctuary, the Walter Bean Trail has you covered. Boasting incredible access to the Grand River watershed, the trail passes through the communities of Waterloo, Kitchener, Cambridge, Woolwich and North Dumfries. You can access this trail at a couple of nearby spots, including Bingemans (425 Bingemans Centre Drive), just over a 10-minute drive from Mooregate Apartments.

Outside Kitchener

See for yourself the incredible transformation of an abandoned quarry into a blossoming wetland by hiking the trails at Fletcher Creek Ecological Preserve (Concession Road 7). Located just outside Kitchener, a 30-minute drive from Mooregate Apartments, this scenic preserve is home to one of the rarest types of wetland in the province.
