Building Certifications

Hazelview is committed to having 100% of our portfolio certified by 2024. Certifying our buildings to credible third-party standards ensures our buildings are operating in an environmentally responsible way. Certifications like the Canadian Certified Rental BuildingTM Program ensures buildings are in strict compliance with leading sustainability best practices and standards. All CRBTM buildings are also Living Green TogetherTM environmentally certified. BOMA BEST certifications are a globally recognized symbol of sustainability achievement and driving change.

EV Chargers

Hazelview in investing in EV charging stations in our properties across multiple cities and provinces. Not only does this help drive the Canadian transition to zero emission vehicles it provides residents with what they need as their vehicle purchase decisions change with time.

Environmental Retrofits

Using the results of the environmental building audits, Hazelview identifies opportunities to invest in building retrofits to reduce water and energy consumption. Water retrofit projects replace outdated plumbing with low-flow fixtures which result in a 15-20% reduction in water use. Lighting retrofit projects drive a 50% reduction in energy savings used by the fixtures. High-efficiency boilers are installed which result in a 5-10% decrease in natural gas consumption.

Hazelview’s Ukrainian Housing Support Program welcomed over 350 displaced persons across our Canadian portfolio, spanning Calgary to Halifax. This program gave families a new home, and a safe, welcoming community in which to grow and thrive again. Hazelview Properties has a partnership with the City of Toronto to migrate refugees out of shelters and into long-term leases at Hazelview apartments.
