Within Halifax’s bustling Clayton Park community is the Halifax Mainland Common. Here you will find a large recreational area full of parkland, trails, and various other facilities. Hazelview Properties’ 16 Bently Drive Apartments are located in the Clayton Park West community, only a 20-minute walk from the heart of the Halifax Mainland Common. In the following article we will discuss some of the Mainland Common’s standout functions and features.

Trails:

Mainland Common Loop

There are a number of walking, biking, and jogging trails that connect throughout Clayton Park and through the Mainland Common. The Mainland Common Loop Trail is a two-loop trail that is located in the Mainland North Common Park. This family-friendly woodland trail is an easy way to get the family out and enjoying the many sights and sounds of Clayton Park West. The trail features different types of trail bed including wood chips and a natural woodland trail bed. There are a number of benches scattered throughout the trail where people can sit, enjoy the day or take a quick water break. Throughout your journey through the Mainland Common Loop you will also see a number of outdoor playing fields, perfect for a game of pick up soccer or baseball.

Mainland North Linear Parkway

The Mainland Common Loop connects to the larger Mainland North Linear Parkway for those looking for a longer and more challenging trail. The Mainland North Linear Parkway is a multi-use trail that stretches from Kearney Lake to Main Street in Fairvew, running parallel to Dunbrack Street in Clayton Park. This is one of Halifax’s most popular recreational trails as its wide pathway accommodates many different activities, such as jogging, cross-country skiing and mountain biking. In total the trail is 4.5 kilometres long with a crusher dust trail and several gradual slopes that are winter-maintained. The Clayton Park West entrance to the Mainland North Linear Parkway is a 25-minute walk from 16 Bently Drive.

Canada Games Centre

The Canada Games Centre was built for the 2011 Winter Canada Games and is located in the heart of the Halifax Mainland Commons.
