Montreal restaurants you have to try

Share:

Montréal is a city that is famous for its food. There are so many great options to choose from that the hardest part can be knowing where to start. Here are just a few of the many fabulous Montréal restaurants you have to try.

Roch le Coq

Sometimes, only fried chicken will do. Roch le Coq (1541 Ave. Van Horne) is a 3-minute walk from Metro Outremont. This place is definitely in the running for the best fried chicken in the city. Their secret may be that all their chicken comes from La Ferme des Voltigeurs – a farm that specializes in grain-fed, never-frozen birds. Roch le Coq also offers a selection of internationally-flavoured sauces to try.

Monarch

If you're celebrating a special occasion, or someone else is paying, Monarch (406 Rue Saint-Jacques) is a luxurious and delicious option. You know you're in for something special as soon as you sit in their grand semi-circle banquette benches. If you're dining alone, the brasserie section offers countertop bar seating for a more intimate vibe. This restaurant is a 1-minute walk from Metro Square Victoria-OACI.

CHIFA

If Monarch is a bit out of your price range, you have another great option just a few blocks away. CHIFA (1080 Rue de Bleury) is an 8-minute walk from Metro Place-des-Arts. Chef Marcel Larrea interprets Peruvian-Chinese fusion his own way – with wonderful results.

Lola Rosa Café

Lola Rosa Café (545 Milton Street) is an 8-minute walk from McGill Metro. They have two other locations at 4581 Avenue du Parc and 276 rue Sainte-Catherine O. They offer a vegetarian take on homestyle comfort food – with vegan and gluten-free options.

Time Out Market

Time Out Market Montreal (705 rue Sainte-Catherine Ouest) is located in Montréal's Underground City. It is home to 16 incredible restaurants – think gourmet food court. It's like a one-stop shop for foodies, and you don't have to agree on where to eat!  The large communal seating area means as of this writing the market is temporarily closed, but these are the fantastic restaurants represented at the market that are currently open for takeout, delivery and/or patio service at their home locations:

Show your support today! We hope we'll see you at Time Out Market in the near future!

We hope this short list of Montréal restaurants you have to try helps to give you a true taste of your city.
