Where to Buy Seasonal Produce

The Halifax Seaport Farmers Market
The Halifax Seaport Farmers Market (1209 Marginal Road in Halifax) has a rich history dating back to 1750. The market moved to the Halifax seaport in 2010, and features over 250 vendors. The Seaport is a vibrant arts and cultural district in the south end of the Halifax waterfront. Extending from Piers 19 to 23, you will find artisans, retailers, event facilities, cafes, galleries, museums, and of course the Halifax Seaport Farmers Market. The market showcases seasonal produce, and has become both a local and popular tourist destination due to its quality, variety, and number of goods and vendors. The Halifax Seaport Farmers Market is located less than a 20-minute drive away from our apartments at 30 Touchstone Court. The market’s website is available here.

Your Local Grocer
You don’t necessarily need to go to a local farmers market to get your hands on some fresh produce. Most grocery stores carry local and organic seasonal produce from Canadian suppliers. Sobeys grocery store (752 Sackville Drive in Lower Sackville) is located only a five-minute drive away from our apartments at 70 Cobequid Road, so fresh and seasonal produce is only minutes away from your doorstep. Sobeys even offers seasonal produce recommendations and recipes for those fruits and vegetables.

Avery’s Farmers Market
Avery’s Farmers Market (287 Cobequid Road in Lower Sackville) is a local Lower Sackville market that features fresh produce year round. This market offers a fairly broad selection of fruits and vegetables, local meats, cheeses, eggs, baked goods, and more. Avery’s also offers seasonal specials, and is open daily. This is a great place to pick up seasonal produce at even better prices. Avery’s Farmers Market is located less than a 15-minute walk from our 108 Cobequid Road apartments.
