The best winter events in Ottawa

Share:

With winter in full swing in Ottawa, now is the perfect time to get out of the house and have fun at a winter event! To help you enjoy the season to the fullest, here are some local winter events in the capital that you have to visit.

Winterlude

If winter in Ottawa’s got you down, you’re doing it wrong! Thankfully Winterlude festival exists to encourage you to do it right. Celebrate the season from now until February 17th, 2020! This event is free! It’s your chance to gawk at beautiful ice sculptures, skate on the Rideau Canal, and play in a majestic Snowflake Kingdom. There’s a lot more than just those activities to enjoy though, so bundle up and prepare to be amazed by winter!

Northern Lights 2020

Winter is a great time to do cool things indoors in Ottawa. If you are into culture and art, be sure to check out The Northern Lights Business & Cultural Showcase. This showcase is designed to shine a light on Eastern Arctic and North business, industry, history, and culture. It attracts thousands of attendees and hundreds of exhibitors each year! If you’re interested in experiencing the culture and history of Eastern Arctic and North regions, the Arts & Cultural Pavilion is a great place to visit within the conference as it will feature demonstrations and displays from up and coming and established artists, craftspeople, and performers. Visit the pavilion from February 6th to 8th, 2020.

Ottawa Winter Jazz Fest

When it’s cold outside, it’s always a good idea to heat things up inside. Bundle up, head out and hit a club or two for Ottawa Winter Jazz Fest! Since 1980, the Ottawa International Jazz Festival has been blowing music lovers’ minds. It plays host to talented artists from across Canada and beyond. Rather than one big blowout, the concerts take place in a series of smaller venues across the city, from January 30th through February 1st. You can buy tickets for individual shows on the event’s website.

Kidsfest

On February 29th and March 1st, parents and kiddos gather to celebrate childhood and parenting at Kidsfest Ottawa -- Ottawa’s biggest kids show! Brace yourself because there’s a lot to take in here! The event features 50,000 square feet of fun and learning. Be sure to bring friends with you because there is almost too much fun to be had here. Expect bouncy castles, interactive activities, magic, animals and Star Wars characters! Get your tickets now while you still can!

We hope you give one of these fabulous Ottawa events a go this winter! Hazelview hopes that you enjoy this magical season to the fullest.
